Job Description

The Web Host Architect role is to construct and implement the technical design for the organization’s web hosting services.  They will use use the skills required of a Systems Administrator to provision, manage, and monitor web services for multiple customers in physical and virtual environments.  This will include managing DNS, applying security standards, and searching for and defining areas for improvement.  The candidate will also be expected to analyze system and traffic volume.

• Implement applicable hardware, software, and platforms for the development of Web architecture.
• Prepare and maintain a long-term plan and standards for hosting services
• Recommend and implement enhancements and modifications
• Monitor and report on Web host and site traffic and performance
• Create and maintain a consistent Web site architectural structure across the organization’s Web hosting service platform.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing system incidents.
• Managing resources in both physical and virtual architectures.
• Establish policies and procedures for publishing Web pages and applications in conjunction with content creators.
• Set and enforce compatibility and interoperability standards that ensure site accessibility for all users.
• Collaborate with Web developers to ensure the best hosting solutions are provided.

Job Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of web technologies, protocols, and tools
• Strong system administration - Linux and Windows.
• Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Working knowledge of Web servers and application servers including IIS and Apache
• Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
• Hands-on experience with Web-database integration and a range of relational database platforms including SQL Server and MySQL.
• Experience managing and provisioning servers in a VMWare virtual environment.
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Virtual private cloud operations.
• Security, identity, and access management.
• Ability to apply and follow Configuration and Change Management processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or commensurate experience.

• 5 or more years of experience performing server support and management functions in a web based environment.
