Job Summary:  
Responsible for day to day operations and support of our Co-Lo Datacenter products; main focus on virtualization platforms, including implementations and upgrades. This position will work day to day in the National Datacenter (NDC), but will receive project based work and training from the VM Architecture group. This position role will focus on skills required of a Systems Administrator in an in-house or hosted environment, as well as a working knowledge of the skills required to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission cloud/private cloud services. This position will monitor, daily, events and alerts generated from Datacenter virtual products and take appropriate action.

Essential Job Functions:
• Develop and maintain virtualization metrics reports for business needs and justifications.
• Implement new projects; deployment of new customer virtual machines.
• Maintain and upgrade virtual machine templates.
• Schedule and Submit maintenance plans to include VMware upgrades and virtual machine tools.
• Monitor virtual machine alerts and events and respond with appropriate action or notification.
• Travel to colo Datacenters will be required when needed.
• Provides excellent customer service and communicates effectively with executive staff, department heads, management, team leaders within the department.
• Establishes ongoing process improvement plans to reduce support efforts and increase service availability and scalability, utilizing industry recognized frameworks as a guide.
• Assists engineering team members as a technical expert in the performance of their routine duties to include system administration duties, job runs, and system maintenance.
• Participates in monthly operational health reviews (including revising Service/Operating Level Agreements), service monitoring and notification discussions, and service portfolio reviews.
• Participates in strategic system planning, tactical operation planning, and the development of contingency plans to ensure Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
• Strong system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command-line level.
• Experience with running and maintaining scripting [PowerShell, Puppet, Chef, etc.].
• Ability to work with internal team, third party vendors and customers to troubleshoot and resolve different situations
• Investigate and document incidents.
• Ensure data center service levels are documented, monitored and reported.
• Ensure data center service levels meet documented service level expectations.
• Manage disaster recovery and practice failovers to backup data centers.
• Participates in annual security audits.
• Daily interaction with internal customers (data centers, QA, and software) as well as peer group relationship  
• Management of System implementation and conversions
• System performance analysis including troubleshooting, resolution and reporting of escalated production issues
• 24/7 On-call support
• Institutes changes to assure compliance to company standards
• Other duties as assigned by manager

Job Requirements



Qualifications:

Education:  
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent (preferred)

Required Experience:   
• 2/3+ years of experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter
• 5+ years of experience with Windows and UNIX/Linux Operating Systems
• 5+ years of Information Technology experience

• VMware vRealize Operations Manager (vROPs)
• VMware Virtual Data Protector (vDP)
• HPE OneView
• HPE Blade Enclsoures
• HPE 3PAR
