The Supplier Quality Engineer II shall provide quality support to supply chain operations, ensuring the integrity of components and that products purchased from suppliers meet Scientific Games Customer requirements. The individual will aggressively drive supplier quality improvements; ensure company standards are adhered to, and driving organizational initiatives towards achieving “zero defects” performance. The individual will lead and drive cross functional support teams to implement process improvements and problem-solving efforts for the supply base, to focus on systemic/process/product issues protecting and improving incoming product quality. The individual will also drive Supplier Quality performance improvement via Proactive Supplier Development (training), Risk Management, onsite assessments, quality scorecard communication, and provide performance data to suppliers on a regular basis.

Essential Job Functions:
• Support proactively on-site quality system assessments/Audits to evaluate potential new Suppliers, in support of Strategic Procurement and Sourcing.  Verify third-party certification and compliance, report on results of assessments to support the supplier selection process.
• For Existing suppliers, conduct capability audits, monitor supplier corrective action results/effectiveness and ensure sustainable action plans are in place to resolve non conformances.
• Provides quality guidance and support to organizations such as Procurement, Manufacturing, and Engineering including effective use of problem-solving tools / techniques, statistical analysis and inspection equipment and techniques.  Implement training of key Quality tools for internal/external stakeholders.
• Processes and reduce non-conformance activities and supplier corrective action reports, by using analytical skills and driving a, focus on preventing issues from reoccurring through the use of quality tools (SPC, Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma, and KPI) and validate improvements through defined measurements.  Focus on common cause/systemic issues (through process/tool development with suppliers).
• Proactively and effectively work with suppliers to minimize ongoing quality/performance issues by requesting and reviewing SCAR submissions from suppliers to ensure appropriate resolution of issues and by maintaining a regular cadence of supplier quality discussions (governance) Focus on program development (QMS mindset) at the suppliers.
• Conduct weekly & monthly failure & metrics analysis to detect trends and opportunities.  Proactive and risk mitigating steps are key (sense of urgency).
• Drives quality improvement efforts internally and externally (supply chain base) and communicates benefits realized to upper management.  Apply Lean principles and techniques to improve supplier performance.
• Provide New Product Introduction quality support by engaging early in the launch process, driving completion of the Launch Readiness Acceptance Checklist and defining appropriate qualification metrics and post launch quality expectations, follow NPI, APQP framework as applicable items for Supplier Quality.
• Support supplier development projects to enhance supply chain capability in both processes and systemic quality improvements.
• Review and make dispositions on supplier production first articles submissions, to ensure they are submitted and approved to organizational requirements, actively work with suppliers to improve capability over time.
• Travel 10% to 25% of the year (domestic and/or international).

Job Requirements



Qualifications:
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in supplier or manufacturing quality engineering.  Experience working with electrical, electro-mechanical assemblies is required.  
• Demonstrated/practical application of Statistical methods, quality tools, and methodologies (DFx, SPC, APQP, FMEA, 8D, DOE, Poke Yoke, and Control Plans).
• Proficient with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab, and high level skills working with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
•  Firsthand experience of ISO 9001, ISO 13485 or TS 16949  audits (supplier audits preferred).
• Strong Strategic  planning and execution, effective time management and organizational skills.  Project management skills are a plus.  Tactical competence is also required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to effectively deliver information to upper management levels
• Practical knowledge of Six Sigma principles. Green Belt or Black Belt certification required.
