Job Description



The incumbent will lead and contribute to overall EHS excellence by providing technical expertise in the development of the SG EHS Management System and the accompanying Performance Standards.  These outcomes will also include designing and leading the company EHS audit program that will assess compliance to domestic EHS laws and regulations and conformance to the company EHS policy and EHS Management System requirements.

This person will contribute to improving corporate EHS performance through minimizing risks and liabilities in multiple EHS discipline including, but not limited to industrial hygiene, machine safety, contractor safety management, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, LEARNING and Sustainability.  

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead the EHS Team in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of SG Environmental Health and Safety Management System (MS) to strive for compliance with national, state/province, and local laws and regulatory requirements as well as conformance to SG EHS company standards.
• Lead the development of safety related technical documents (Performance Standards and others) including LEARNING materials.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify system failures, and problem solving.
• Implement corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement activities as identified in a myriad of EHS activities.
• Design and lead domestic EHS audits, including the development of audit documentation, tracking corrective actions, and monitoring trends in results of audit activities.
• Lead internal customers and others for the purpose of completing projects/assignments efficiently and effectively.
• Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety or environmental concerns.
• Collect, monitor analyze and evaluate KPIs that measure effectiveness of EHS performance and provide senior leadership with feedback.
• Must be able to drive Operational Excellence through living a Culture of Accountability – See It, Own It, Solve It and Do It.

Job Requirements



Qualifications:

Education
• A Bachelor's Degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Extensive successful experience in the development and implementation of a global EHS Management System that meets or exceeds ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, or ISO 14001 at a global company.
• Excellent technical knowledge in the global EHS area – including laws and regulations.  Global experience in applying technical standards at sites across the globe.
• Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving and training skills; can influence people who are not direct reports through collaboration.
• Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starting/self-managing, ability to handle diverse situations with limited management direction.
• Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing environment and new challenges.
• Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High level analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
• Independent judgment is exercised in performance of duties.
