Job Description



The Sr. Director of Planning & inventory Management will be responsible for identifying and leading projects designed to significantly improve Scientific Games’ SI&OP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process by driving improvement in forecast accuracy and inventory planning across our global business units (gaming, lottery, & interactive). The projects are transformational in nature, so will require strategic thinking, effective problem structuring, and an ability to influence diverse teams.

The Sr. Director of Planning and Inventory management will work through a team of both direct reports and matrixed representatives from various corporate functions.  The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional and field leadership to determine adequate forecast accuracy and inventory planning.  The Sr. Director will drive compliance with the field and functions in order to achieve said targets.

Success will be measured based on:
•For planning: forecast accuracy, parts availability, cost reduction, inventory and working capital impact
•For special projects: projects identified and impact delivered.  Prioritization of the most meaningful opportunities and the ability to work cross-functionally is critical to success.

Specific Responsibilities:

Planning (overall)
•Direct the strategic and tactical activities of Scheduling, Planning, Forecasting and Supply Management Analytics
•Drive stakeholder discussions with other disciplines to identify and address impedances to low cost supply opportunities and predictively forecast, verify, and order materials to support this supply chain.
•Formulate and utilize methods and systems for enhancing operational efficiencies, and control over supply and inventory.
•Lead Sales Inventory & Operations Planning and Demand Planning within MRP (Oracle, Mapics, Navision) systems to ensure adequate supply and on-time delivery.
•Control, monitor, and evaluate the materials process via key performance indicators and driving short and long-term improvements.
•Determine budgetary needs for specified areas and manages to the set budget.
•Identify planning service improvements and product standardization consistent with the expectations of the business.
•Assist in identification and update of part information to help drive substitution options.
•Manage and maintain effective communication with cross-functional partners.
•Utilize data analysis and reporting to support supply chain strategies, cost reduction efforts, inventory reduction targets, and compliance.

Organization
•Leading a 15-20 person center-led Planning & Inventory Management team, establish rigorous internal performance management system, including team and individual-level targets, scorecards and monthly tracking.
•Achieve early wins to build organizational confidence and momentum.
•Ability to evolve organizational strategies going forward based on ongoing process improvement and strategic direction.

Essential Job Functions
•Provide timely scheduling and delivery of production orders and parts orders, and ensure appropriate vendor performance for quality, delivery and cost.
•Develop and implement order management strategies that ensure readiness of work orders (adherence to approved BOM configurations)
•Directs the gathering, interpretation and actions upon relevant statistical data and drafts reports on related issues
•Guides development of policies and processes for the buyers to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize fill rate
•Establish and maintain, as appropriate, a cross-functional communications network across the business with an emphasis on real-time interaction to assure product supply meets current customer demand
•Create, implement and refine team performance KPI’s
•Manages parts availability incuding; expedite, reschedule or revise materials shipments to avoid disruptions while preserving ideal inventory turns and fill rate
•Collaborate with Segment Team and suppliers to discuss performance metrics, provide performance feedback, and recommend changes to purchasing forecasts.
•Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure the successful execution of the plan.
•Direct and manage product lifecycle strategies (including Incorporating new products into the forecast).
•Champion collaborative environment with accountability that assures effective supply chain.

•Make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures for purchasing, order entry (configuration) and master scheduling.  Champion a clear channel of communication and coordination between functional counterparts in the business units.
•Ensure that effective business unit systems, procedures and financial controls are stablished and maintained for the business unit’s operations.

Job Requirements



Education/Training:
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent management experience.  MBA preferred.
•APICS/NAPM, CPIM or CPM certification or equivalent preferred.

Required Experience:
•Ten or more years of progressively responsible corporate Supply Chain or Procurement leadership at an industrial or engineered products manufacturing company.
•Multi-site experience required; global experience a plus
•Solid experience in direct material strategic sourcing (preferably electronics). Highly results-oriented and focused on business priorities with a successful record of accomplishments.

Computer Skills and Abilities:
•Demonstrated proficency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, and Outlook.
•Significant materials planning and systems (ERP) background required (Oracle & Mapics a plus); including inventory optimization

•Excellent problem-solving skills – able to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement and assesses viable solutions.  Develop and execute comprehensive action plans.

•“Academy company” work experience a plus.
