Job Summary
The Contractor - Technical Writer role is to verify written documentation against new and existing Lottery products to ensure that the documentation for these products is accurate and meet necessary user functionality. Also, responsible for having proficient understanding of security and compliance standards in order to ensure that the features and functionalities documented make sense from an operational and security perspective.

Work independently or with a team to plan, develop, write, and edit multiple communication mediums, including security and compliance guides, bulletins, and any other type of required informational or procedural documents.

Conduct interviews and demonstrations with various Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) throughout the organization to gather required information or procedures. Utilize the defined department review process (SME, Peer, Customer, final version) before disseminating communications to all internal and external audiences. Produce and maintain high quality, accurate security documents/multimedia for internal and external clients that conforms to the Technical Documentation Style Guides. Perform in a leadership capacity when called upon to do so. Create new security document/multimedia templates and edits existing templates for department-wide use.

This position will require interaction with business and technical teams across SG geographic boundaries. It also requires interaction with project managers, software engineers, business analysts, and testing teams.

Essential Job Functions
• Produce high-quality, on-time communications in support of new product submissions or existing products in the field or for regulatory agencies. Translating complex and technical information into an intuitive and clear format.
• Produce marketing communications material. This content may include announcements of new product features, print & online ads, press releases, product sheets, and company flyers/brochures.
• Create multimedia content for inclusion in communications. This content may include video footage, tutorials using Adobe Captivate software, Flash animations, etc.
• Leverage basic understanding of software development lifecycle to support development of various technical documents that includes but is not limited to requirements, specifications, and end user documentation
• Work Closely With Technical and Non-Technical Team Members
• Collect and clarify technical information
• Create Diagrams, Drawings and Charts to Explain Product Usage
• Develop and Maintain Standard Operating Procedures
• Write clear, understandable documents that follow the writing standards and processes defined by the Technical Documentation department
• Work with Manager, Technical Documentation to develop plans that address content, time schedules, and customer requirements
• Work with the Manager, Technical Documentation to identify, define, and plan strategic initiatives including continual process improvement as requested
• Interview the appropriate software engineers, support staff, and quality assurance personnel to understand functionality and to determine the documentation needs throughout the project lifecycle
• Interact with relevant internal and external clients for technical information
• Promote the exchange of information between the Technical Documentation and Knowledge Management department and other departments and business units in SG
• Develop training material
• Serve as SME for documentation produced by the Technical Documentation team
• Execute Documentation User Acceptance test cases and record the results.  
• Work with the Technical Documentation team to ensure published material accuracy
• Must be able to assist Technical Writers with troubleshooting and problem solving
• Maintain and deliver project status information
• Understand validation concepts in order to produce and maintain high quality, accurate documentation
• Reduce complex subjects into comprehensive modules
• Willingness to demonstrate and/or train SG software to internal and external customers
• Must be able to handle and participate in several projects concurrently
• Must be able to travel, as required for projects, up to 25% of the time
• Fluency in multiple languages is a plus
• Learn supported SG products and their use in the field to facilitate resolution of customer inquiries.    
• Participate in the setting up and validating testing environment.
• Document any deviation of expected results during testing and report confirmed defects.  
• Mentor others in the UA testing processes.

Job Requirements



Education
• Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years of technical writing experience or 8+ years technical writing experience

Required Experience:
• 5-8+ years of experience in technical writing
• 5+ years of experience with MS Office products
• At least 2 years of gaming/lottery industry experience is a plus
• Must have writing experience using various desktop publishing applications (such as Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Captivate, and MS Word) within a software development environment
• Must have produced various types of documents such as process documents, requirements, reference manuals, and functional specifications
• Must display strong mentoring/leadership skills
• Must have proven ability to perform management tasks
• Proven track record in document planning, research, writing and editing
• Ability to reduce complex subjects into comprehensive modules
• Security and compliance standards experience desired
• Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
