Job Description

The Security Specialist is a key contributor to the ongoing operations and support of Scientific Games (SG) interactive and retail lottery gaming platforms. This role is responsible for the vulnerability and patch management for SG platforms as well as the physical and software infrastructure they operate on.

Job Requirements

• Works within the site operations team, which is responsible for operating and supporting SG interactive and retail lottery gaming platforms for lottery customers.
• Seeks and identifies security vulnerabilities and threats within gaming applications and supporting middleware, operating systems, physical/network infrastructure.
• Assesses and prioritizes identified vulnerabilities and threats and develops/actions plans to eliminate or mitigate critical items.
• Assesses systems against system hardening standards and performs hardening tasks as required.
• Monitors and identifies available security and service patches for applications, middleware, operating systems and firmware (physical and networking infrastructure).
• Works with application development and quality assurance teams to ensure patches and vulnerability remediations do not adversely impact gaming applications.
• Works closely with SG and customer Change Approval Boards (CABs) to schedule and implement patches and vulnerability remediations in adherence to established service level agreements.
• Collaborates with development and systems teams to ensure developed solutions adhere to SG and the customer’s security policies and standards, as well as, jurisdictional regulations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or 5 years of related work experience
• Experience with monitoring and evaluating systems for vulnerabilities and threats.
• Experience with hardening of systems to industry standards and benchmarks (e.g. CIS).
• Previous experience with patching various operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat), using prominent patching tools such as WSUS and Satellite Server.
• Previous experience in working with one or more of the following middleware: SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle (DB/Forms), Apache, RIAK/NoSQL.
• Experience with infrastructure virtualization (i.e. VMWare).
• Industry information security certifications would be considered an asset (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CEH, GSEC).
• Experience working with enterprise-scale highly-available transactional systems.
• Experience in the lottery and gaming industry would be considered an asset.
