Job Description



I. Position Summary:
The Software Test Engineer Level 3 can work independently or as a team member in the full life cycle of a software development project.  The Test Engineer is adept setting at independently setting up, controlling, deploying and running a test environment in order to provide an independent evaluation of software.  The Test Engineer reports to the Director of Lottery Systems and Implementations.

II. Responsibilities/Essential Functions
 Interacts with other engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, components, or modifications. Identifies functional problems and suggests resolutions.
 Defines internal and external quality control standards and the maintenance of reliability programs.
 Ensures testing procedures are in compliance with any required industry specific standards.
 Able to determine effectiveness, monitor and drive customer testing of multiple Lottery products.
 Contributes to the development of improvements to overall testing and quality programs for improved results internally and with customers.
 Coordinate with 3rd party vendors or suppliers to modify or develop testing for components or other parts.
 Contributes complex aspects of internal and customer facing projects.
 Supplies detailed reporting and analytics related to test status that executive and/or customer facing.
 Able to understand and report progress on the big picture of complex integrated systems with internal and 3rd party testing resources.
 Follow department test process.
 Evaluate and provides input to requirement documents.
 Create and maintain test scripts.
 Provide test summary reports.
 Submit clearly written bug reports (RFAs) and reporting results when necessary to the Quality Control Manager.
 Create a test environment and then control the integrity of that environment during the life of a project.
 Monitor status of RFA’s submitted during testing.
 Provide general status and information about specific project risks to multiple consumers.
 Other duties as assigned

III. Position Qualifications
 5- 10 years’ experience in software testing, setting up test environments, testing and logging results; or equivalent experience.
 A 4 year college degree in engineering or equivalent technical experience.
 General proficiency in Microsoft Office desktop applications, especially Word and Excel.
 Useful prior experience for this position include:
a. General proficiency in a Linux environment
b. Able to write basic queries in SQL Server
c. Testing web applications
d. Automated testing tools is a plus
 Travel:  Up to 25%.  Possess valid papers allowing for foreign travel (Most travel will be domestic).
