Job Description

The person in this position leads and coordinates manufacturing engineering assignments to improve existing manufacturing processes and establish the manufacturing methods and layouts of new products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• To plan, support and lead projects or tasks related to Manufacturing Engineering including:
• Improve existing manufacturing processes and capabilities
• Develop methods and processes for the manufacture of new products
• Troubleshoot and improve of existing processes
• Design, construction and operation of Fixtures and equipment
• Utilize Lean manufacturing principles to support cost reduction
• Estimate production times and manufacturing capabilities
• Plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
• May interview applicants for positions within the department; recommend most qualified applicants for employment; conducts performance appraisals and recommends appropriate salary actions
• Prepares exhibits and reports with respect to productivity, quality of work, etc., as directed from managers
• Assists in the cross-training of individuals
• Assists staff with work related problems to improve job performance
• Coordinates scheduling of personnel to provide sufficient coverage for unit at all times

Job Requirements

Training and/or experience:
• 4+ years of engineering experience with 2+ in a lead or supervisory manufacturing process role
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to coach, train, facilitate, supervise, and lead teams effectively
• Supervisors skills to plan and control the workload
• Strong project management and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse work group
• Ability to resolve personnel problems
• Superior written, verbal, and telephone skills
• Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks
• Ability to multi-task is required
• Strong problem solving skills
• Strong analytical skills

4-year engineering degree required; Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred
