Job Summary:
This individual is to specify, design and develop critical high-performance and scalable platform frameworks and components. Apply software engineering skills for the development and maintenance of software systems for web based lottery systems. Strong analytical skills are required and the candidate must be proficient in infrastructure analysis and design concepts and implementations. This position requires a well-rounded software engineer that is willing to work in any area of the system that requires maintenance or new development.

Essential Job Functions:

•        Develop system requirements, technical designs, and implement logical solutions through the use of structured programming concepts and modern programming methods.

•        Produce required system documentation such as requirements, functional design specifications and related documentation.

•        Establish and maintain client confidence by delivering quality system solutions within project timelines and budgetary limits.

•        Respond to System problem calls (24x7) in a timely manner in order to avoid system downtime.

•        Interacts and works successfully with other team members as well as other departments.

•        Collect requirements for, design, and implement lottery loyalty club client / server modules using primarily C++ and PHP.

•        Collect requirements for, design, and implement financial and ecommerce systems / server modules using primarily C++, JAVA, PHP and/or LARAVEL.

•        Together with the operations team, support the codebase running on the production site, including, but not limited to, being on-call to support production issues.

•        Contribute to design and development of tools, utilities and framework components

•        Work with Lead Software Engineer to evaluate feature, schedule and resource trade-offs and make informed, long-term recommendations

•        Work with Lead Software Engineer to develop schedules for projects

•        Assist the NOC engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues from clients

•        Create and maintain installation software for the different system components

•        Demonstrated ability to work as a self-starter in a small, focused software development team.

Job Requirements


•        Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

Required Experience:
• 7-10 years programming experience C++, PHP, Java, HTML
• Experience with development tools including debuggers, bug tracking and source control systems required

•      Experience with C++, PHP and MySQL, on a Linux platform.

Preferred Experience:

•        Software design and architecture experience

•        Client / Server programming experience

•        Source Control/Configuration Management

•        Real-time server programming experience

•        High availability environment programming experience

•        User interface implementation experience

•        Database programming experience

•        Object Oriented programming, TDD, Design Patterns

•        Knowledge of Android and iOS development

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

•     Candidates without PHP experience, but with strong experience in another web MVC framework (Rails, Django, etc.), will also be considered.

•     Experience with the following, would be a plus: Perl, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, Apache.

•     Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Strong teambuilding skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge regarding Agile Development processes and methodologies
• End to end software development lifecycle

Physical Requirements:
• Office environment – heavy computer use
Work Conditions:
• The ability to move between projects      with little notice and the ability to adapt quickly.
• Overtime and weekend hours may be required to meet project schedules.
• Travel required.
