Job Description



To provide guidance for the company on best safety practices and procedures, as well as sustainability initiatives globally.  To develop, plan, coordinate and manage site safety and sustainability programs including the implementation of those programs to ensure the safety of physical environment, and to ensure compliance with applicable policies for international and domestic regulations.  For sustainability, the position will develop local energy champions at each location, raise the awareness of our sustainability initiatives, and implement an energy reduction program and reporting.    
Essential Job Functions:
• Plan, develop, implement and manage health and safety in the workplace globally for SG.
• Assist in reducing employee risk by planning and executing safety strategies.  Promote a behavioral safety environment.
• Report, track on injury/illness statistics and safety program, using statistical methods and comparative data, keep management advised of company performance.
• Conduct job-based Physical Demand Evaluations and Job Safety Analysis to determine ergonomic risks.
• Assist operations in managing and control plant production, quality and cost objectives.
• Develop, implement, coordinate and be pro-active with global Safety Program including meetings and assisting Safety Committee members.
• Assist in training and supporting leaders and teams in determining root cause analysis and corrective actions during investigations of safety incidents using Lean Manufacturing Concepts.  5-Why
• Develop safety-training programs, using reference materials such as those available through OSHA, American Society of Safety Engineers and other resources.
• Help identify potential hazards and recommend changes to protect workers through education and training programs.
• With Safety Coordinators, regularly inspect facility operations to ensure that safe job practices followed.
• Develop and report on Sustainability initiatives worldwide
• Coordinate regular meetings with a team of energy champions representing each location or business
• Develop energy saving strategies
• Required to consistently demonstrate effective leadership, problem solving, brainstorming and decision-making.  Must be able to work both independently and as a member of different teams.
• Other duties as assigned by Leader of Global Facility Services.

Job Requirements



Qualifications
Education: Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.   Bachelors or Associates Degree in Applied Science in Occupational Safety & Health.  

Required Experience: Seven years plus experience preferred in Safety and Sustainability.  

Preferred Experience:  Additional job specific training in OSHA regulations, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics.  Microsoft software.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:  Safety Certifications a plus, CSP, ASP, CSMP, ASHM, CSHM.  
Physical Requirements:  
Ability to travel, walk the facilities, and meet with local management
