Job Description



The role is responsible for ensuring that the monthly financials for Social business are free from material error, whilst being supported by efficient and robust processes. Reporting to the Controller, the Director will lead day-to-day accounting operations for the Social business and ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with U.S. GAAP, while providing inspirational leadership to a team of managers and staff accountants. This role will ensure that this line of business has the systems and procedures in place to support effective internal controls and deliver timely and accurate reporting. The role requires an individual with the mentality for continuous improvement to processes and ways of working. He/she should also have the desire to fully understand the financials and be a value added partner to its Finance and Operations customers.

Job Requirements



Essential Job Functions

•Directly leads and owns a designated functional area of Accounting with meaningful size and/or supports a single business unit with meaningful size and financial contribution to the organization.
•Directs and controls the general accounting activities, including recording company transactions, classifications, and reconciliation of account balances in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
•Establishes project teams, assigns responsibilities, and facilitates meetings to ensure timely goal attainment.
•Responsible for financial statements of the stand-alone Social business in accordance with U.S. GAAP requirements.
•Mentors, coaches, and develops employees through orientation, training, establishment of objectives, communication of policies and rules, and constructive discipline; builds morale and motivation.
•Prepares management reports and participates in presenting monthly accounting results to senior management.
•Ensures compliance with accounting principles and adherence with company policy in the business units; implements new policies and changes based on the recommendation and research provided by the Corporate External Reporting and Research group.
•Leads optimization and standardization of month end processes.
•Partners with financial analysis group to assist with reporting, budgeting, strategic planning and forecasting and reconciling actual results to forecasts and budgets.
•Partners with the tax function in order to optimize efficiency and ensure compliance.
•Partners with the treasury function to effectively manage cash.
•Works with external tax preparers and Group Finance to ensure that federal & state income tax returns are filed timely and accurately.
•Directs preparation and completion of local statutory audits, internal audits, communicating directly with auditors.
•Develops and builds a high performing team through effective team meetings and communications.
•Sets and monitors objectives and longer term goals in line with Business/Overall Company initiatives & requirements.
•Ensures best practice processes and policies are enforced and constantly challenged.
•Ensure integrity of financial data and compliance to internal controls.
•Relish the opportunity to pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role.
•Fulfill any other ad hoc responsibilities as directed by the Controller or CFO.

Experience & Skills

•Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and CPA are required
•8+ years experience in accounting required, with at least 4 years in a management/leadership role
•2- 3 yrs public accounting experience strongly preferred
•Exceptional accounting and analytical skills, through knowledge of U.S. GAAP requirements
•Excellent people skills enabling continued support, motivation and development of the team in a dynamic, fast moving environment
•Demonstrated ability to work with senior management to effect positive change
•Demonstrated ability to focus on procedure and process change
•Experience with Hyperion, Oracle, Business Objects or other reporting tools
•Excellent oral and written presentation skills
•Thorough knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirements
•Highest ethical standards and leadership qualities
•Ability to work collaboratively in group situations
•Desire and ability to work within tight timeframes and meet reporting deadlines
•Ability to gain trust at the highest levels of the organization
•Proactively highlights and progresses solutions for issues identified
•Proactive approach to developing and enhancing systems and processes
•Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state). May also include international travel.
