We are looking for a Corporate Communications Specialist, External to join the fast-paced Corporate Communications team at Scientific Games, a leading global gaming and lottery content and technology provider with offices and employees in 250 locations on six continents. The successful candidate will be energetic, creative, and have superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Under the guidance of the Director of Corporate Marketing & Communications, the successful candidate will assist in planning and executing public relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image of Scientific Games and its product portfolio to the media, customers, and all stakeholders. They will be responsible for executing multi-format PR campaigns with a goal towards enriching Scientific Games’ position within the public eye – including building and maintaining strong relationships with global communications partners and media.

This role is responsible for supporting the company’s corporate brand identity through successful coordination and execution of press releases, promotions, awards, sponsorships, special events, social media and corporate website content. The external corporate communications specialist will maintain relationships with communications and marketing representatives in each of the four business units to ensure cohesive coordination and execution of all external communications efforts.

Essential Job Functions:
• Work with the Director and VP of Corporate Communications, as well as communications and marketing representatives in each of the four business units, to implement public relations and promotional strategies and programs that promotes the company’s brand identity
• Coordinate with global communicators across the organization to better align on approach, timing, and intent of colleague and customer-facing messages
• Research, evaluate, distill and disseminate complicated company and industry information (with accuracy) through press releases and editorial for media and the public
• Write press releases
• Research media coverage and industry trends
• Create thought leadership materials
• Lead trade show media planning and execution, including messaging, story pitches, and press interviews
• Regularly engage journalists through pitching and consistent dialogue
• Have knowledge/understanding of social media-related technology and be able to support these technologies
• Coordinate stakeholders and projects to ensure corporate website is best-in-class and up-to-date with relevant brand messaging
• Create engaging and relevant content to disseminate through social media channels
• Assist in coordination of media interviews
• Travel to events and meetings
• Maintain consistent & accurate files on all correspondence & data
• Consistently seek out innovative opportunities to promote the company’s brand through social media and public relations programs
• Oversee and maintain newspaper/media clip files
• Support and assist marketing research programs on behalf of the company, including internal efforts, one-off events and long-term tracking
• Seek out and review opportunities for company sponsorships, speaking engagements, awards and media programs
• Facilitate contract fulfillment for public relations and sponsorship initiatives, including follow-up, tracking and record-keeping   
• Coordinate and approve collateral/creative for promotions, sponsorships & special events
• Coordinate/oversee corporate giving partnership, including tracking and accountability
• Helps support the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives communications, including community involvement, responsible gaming, diversity, environment –  using multi-format communication channels to raise awareness and exposure of these important activities.
• Assist with creative planning/new initiative planning
• Support all other corporate communications department functions as needed, including copywriting, research, media planning assistance, proofreading and filing
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements



Qualifications:

Education  
• College degree preferred with emphasis on communications, public relations, journalism or a related field
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including an established news-writing style
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in public relations or related industry environment, including internships and volunteer experience.
• Knowledge of AP style guidelines
• Ability to pass a background check

• Skilled at working quickly, by the rules, while demonstrating collaboration and a winning spirit to help improve the game
• Proven storyteller capable of creating lively, engaging narratives
• Ability to manage public relations initiatives from inception to event to follow-up and the ability to communicate confidently to members of the media and the public

• Self-starter and motivated individual who works with minimal supervision
• Ability to thrive under tight deadlines with limited resources
• Ability to multi-task and quickly prioritize projects and communicate priorities to stakeholders
• Ability to work with people at all levels in the organization to implement programs
• Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to organize, scope, and schedule multiple work streams with attention to detail and consistency
• Creative, decisive, responsive, able to work independently and take responsibility for decisions and outcomes
• Demonstrated experience with major social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn required
• Knowledge of standard software tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.); knowledge of Adobe Creative Software and web publishing tools preferred

Physical Requirements: Office environment; must occasionally be able to work evenings and weekend; and the ability to travel when required.
