Job Description



The person in this position is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures in accordance with the framework and guidance of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This includes but not limted to performing monthly, quarterly and yearly general accounting functions, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. He or she will supervises senior and staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities.

Job Functions:
• Performs responsibilities in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls
• Working knowledge of corporate structure, practices and policies
• Performs analytical review of actual expenses vs. budgeted amounts (e.g. SG&A expenses) and assists management with interpretation.
• Answers and resolves internal and external customer inquiries, including audit inquiries.
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
• Responds to inquiries from the Director of Finance, Controller, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
• Work with the Director’s to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
• Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
• Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
• Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
• Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
• Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
• Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements



Qualifications:  
• Minimum of five years of accounting experience in a publicly traded company and multi- functional accounting
• Experience in international, multi-location, and manufacturing environments preferred
• Sarbanes Oxley experience desirable, but not required

Education:  
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Hands on computer experience with general ledger accounting system is a must
nowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively – written or orally
• Oracle Software experience desirable, but not required
• Must have strong analytical reasoning
• Must have multi-tasking experience and abilities
• Must be able to effectively communicate at both the lowest and highest levels in the organization
• Must be detail oriented and well organized
